How to Transfer Outlook Data to a New Computer?
The Transfer Outlook process will be divided into 2 major parts-
- Backing up data using Rikvr Transfer For Outlook
- Transfer Data using Rikvr Transfer For Outlook
Part 1: Backing up data using Rikvr Transfer For Outlook
- Download, install, and launch Rikvr Transfer For Outlook on the old computer.
- Select the Transfer option.
- Select the Backup option.
- Choose one of two settings:
- Smart Backup - creates a backup of all your Outlook data files and configuration.
- Advanced Backup - provides customization options allowing you to select certain Outlook items or attributes to backup.
- Click on Yes to confirm your choices.
If you choose Smart Backup-
- A backup file will be created. Press Next to continue.
- After the Backup process begins. You can Pause or Stop the process if needed.
- After the process, all the backed-up files will be listed in order. Click on Finish to end the process.
Note: You can find your backup file here- C:\Users\User Profile\Documents\Rikvr Outlook Transfer\Backups You can always change the default save location using Settings. Press Next to continue.
If you choose Advanced Backup-
- You will be presented with two options Backup Now and Schedule Backup. Select Backup Now.
- Create a Backup Profile or use an existing one and press Next.
- A list of your Outlook Items will be displayed. Check the box of items you wish to back up and click on Next.
- In the Settings Tab, select the destination location of the backup, compress the backup file, split the backup files, and password-protect the backup file.
- Verify your customization choice and click on Next.
- After the Backup process begins. You can Pause or Stop the process if needed.
- Use the View Report option to verify all the items that got backed up.
- Click on Finish to end the process.
After the backup process, copy the backup file onto an external storage device and carefully transfer the backup file to the destination computer.
Part 2: Transfer Data using Rikvr Transfer For Outlook
To transfer the data from the backup files to the desired computer follow the steps below.
- Download, install, and launch Rikvr Transfer For Outlook on the destination computer.
- Click on Transfer Outlook and select the Transfer option.
- Under the Select tab, choose the backup file from earlier. If the backup file is password-protected, enter the credentials in the Enter password section. Press Next to continue.
- Select the items you want to transfer and click on Next.
- After the transfer process begins. You can Pause or Stop the process if needed.
- Upon completion, use the View Report to verify all the transferred data. Press Finish to end the process.

- To confirm your choices and click on OK.
- After the Backup process begins. You can Pause or Stop the process if needed.
- Use the View Report option to verify all the items that got backed up.
- Click on Finish to end the process.
Note: The scheduled backup will backup your data automatically in the background at the scheduled time. If your computer is turned off during the scheduled backup time, the backup will automatically start when the system is turned on.
Settings
To access and customize the settings, click on the Settings button next to the Minimize button.
You will find 3 categories in Settings.
- General Settings
- Profile Settings
- Schedule Backup
General Settings
There are 4 different sections that fall under General Settings-
- Updates- Users can check for the latest software updates available to download.
- Compression Level - Users can adjust the default compression levels for the backup files ranging from low, medium, and high.
- Backup File Location- Users can use the Browse option to change the default location of their backup files.
- Log Settings- Users can access records of all transfer, backup, and restoration history using the View log option. Users can also use the Clear Log option to delete their log records.
Profile Settings
Clicking on Profile Settings will display a list of all available profiles. Users can use profile settings, to customize profile transfer settings.
- Click on New to create a new Profile.
- Click on Edit if you want to alter the settings of a selected profile.
- Click on Delete to delete a profile.
- Click on Cancel if you do not want to make any changes.
Schedule Backup
You can set a Schedule Backup directly from the Settings tab itself.
- Set the Backup Frequency and Backup Time.
- Create a Backup profile or select an existing one.
- In the Select tab select the items you want to backup.
- In the Settings Tab, select the destination location of the backup, compress the backup file, split the backup files, and password-protect the backup file.
- Verify your customization choice and click on Next.
- Use the View Report option to verify all the items that got backed up.
- Click on Finish to end the process.
